The jack o’lantern mushroom bauble mimics it’s real life counterpart in many ways! Check out the gills, which glow in the dark just like the bioluminescent gills of the jack o’lantern mushroom.

Omphalotus olearius is a toxic orange mushroom that can be confused with chanterelles. This mushroom contains the enzyme luciferase, which produces bioluminescence in the gills. The gills are shortly decurrent down the stem, but not forked or depressed, as are the gills of chanterelles. They usually grow in dense clusters, and mature fruiting bodies can range greatly in size.
